ABSTRACT

Coordination polymers have attracked great interests of chemists due to their novel structures, interesting properties and potential applications. In this project, systematic study on assembly, structure and property of metal complexes has been carried out. New multidentate organic ligands with different coordination groups such as 1-imidazole, 4-imidazole and carboxylate were designed and prepared, and their reactions with transition metal salts of Mn(II), Cu(II), Ag(I), Zn(II), Cd(II) and so on with different coordination geometry as well as rare earth metal salts were studied. Coordination polymers with varied structures were obtained and their properties e.g. ion-exchange, slective molecular recognition were studied. The influence of counteranion, coordination geometry of metal atom as well as reaction condition on the structure and property of the complexes was investigated and the results provide useful information for understanding of assembly process and further study.
