ABSTRACT

As the high altitude snow cover and frozen soil zone, the winter land surface processes of Tibetan plateau appear very important. On the base of existing observation and the need of development of models, the supplement observation were carried out on typical underlaying surface of the central and east part of the Tibetan plateau in winter to study the effects snow cover and soil froze/thaw processes on the surface energy and water cycle. Using high quality forcing and validation data, numerical simulation experiments of the land surface processes on the Tibetan Plateau have been done and the land surface model ability have been evaluated. A new soil thermal conductivity parameterization scheme on the Tibetan Plateau and a modified frozen soil parameterization scheme have been established to improve the simulation of numerical model in Tibetan plateau by verification and optimization of numerical model.
